Voice Instruction at Bella Voce Studio

Learn to sing with ease and confidence at any age!

Have Fun and Try It!

Hi! I’m Julie (aka Mrs. Stone)!

Welcome to Bella Voce Studio where I’ve been teaching for almost 20 years!

Since you’re here, I know you want some help with your singing voice, and I’d love to guide you.

Sometimes getting the sound you want means that you’ll need to throw away your expectations about how you’ll do it.

I am passionate about teaching serious vocal technique in a down-to-earth, outside-the-box, laugh-out-loud way that meets each person where they are at.

My motto is “we do what works!” because… well…isn’t that the point?!

Explore!

The biggest key to shaping your voice is learning to explore the sounds you make without judgment.

For children, we lay that foundation early so they have a lifetime of enjoying singing and feeling comfortable with their own voices!

For teens, we work through the challenges of adolescent insecurities and learn to ground the voice in sensations before sound.

For adults, we reframe the stories we have always believed about how “fixed” our voices are and we play and explore scientifically based fact with that fun, down-to-earth teaching style that I’m known for.

What will you learn?

You will sing a variety of genres including musical theatre, contemporary, and classical.

During your lesson we will focus on developing healthy singing technique, authentic interpretation, communication and stage presence.

My background in classical voice has given me a solid foundation for healthy singing and tone production.  I am always researching and learning more about contemporary voice techniques as well. My students enjoy the best of both worlds!

What does it take to grow in confident singing?

Mind your Mind

Most of us have beliefs about our singing voices that grew from our childhoods. Feed your mind with truth about your singing voice and overcome the fear and shame that surround singing. This one thing will make improvement possible!

Understand your voice

Your voice, though unique, is not a complete mystery.  Learning how your voice works and ways to understand it from the inside out will boost your confidence.

Get feedback

Knowledge is important but feedback is usually the game changer. It’s amazing how empowering it is to hear, “Yes! That’s what’s supposed to happen!”

Voice Lessons are more than singing songs

Some of the main goals we work toward include:
 developing a healthy singing technique
learning how the vocal instrument works
building your range and ability
building confidence
overcoming stage fright
developing your music reading skills
learning to use a microphone

preparing for auditions or performances

Kids

The voice is the very first instrument we learn as humans!

Learning how to use and understand their “invisible instrument” at a young age will eliminate the mystery and misconceptions that most of us deal with regarding the singing voice.

Teens

As students want to participate in music socially, they often encounter insecurities or vocal frustrations in using their instruments.

Teens thrive in voice lessons because they are cognitively more ready to understand vocal technique, often have real life opportunities to apply the technique, and understanding and desire to practice.

Adults

It’s never too late to start understanding and training your voice.

Most of us grow up believing that we have to live with the voice we were given.

Modern technology and new research in voice science have given us a whole new understanding of the voice and how anyone can learn to sing better.

You don’t have to have aspirations to be a professional musician to take voice lessons.

If you want to grow your voice and learn more confidence, voice lessons are for you!

Adults need a little more coaxing to get on camera!

I just want you to know that you uplift my spirits every time I listen to my lesson tape and practice.  It is so good to hear your voice and laugh along with some of the things said.
Thank you for your great teaching and positive attitude.

“I wanted you to know that following your Confident Singer workshops have helped me immensely, and I’m not done all the videos yet.

My vocal range has expanded by about 1/2 an octave so far with your relaxing techniques!”

“Julie is a fantastic voice coach. Her enthusiasm is downright contagious and made exploring what my voice could do fun and not intimidating. Julie’s knowledge of all things vocal and her willingness and excitement to share her expertise with others make her an excellent teacher. I’d highly recommend her to anyone looking to gain confidence and skill!”

Julie Stone is an wonderful teacher who really cares about her students, and my kids just love her. In their own words she is friendly, encouraging, patient, nice, and a good teacher.
As a parent, I appreciate how she is able to build their confidence while challenging them to grow and reach new levels of musicianship. But that growth isn’t limited to her students; I have watched as she continually challenges herself to grow ever more effective as a teacher, and her students reap the benefits of that pursuit.

“Listening to me sing and the pointers you have given me thus far are right on.

You have a magnetic personality, Miss Julie. Funny too. Your evaluation of my singing is comprehensive.”

Trudy H.

Thank you! Anabelle had an AMAZING time!

She said, “I feel really comfortable around her and think I can be myself!”
